Here's the Formula:
Daily Pray, Read and follow Holy scripture. Reading Bible study lessons available from: www.itiswritten.com is very helpful.
Then daily follow the Holy Spirit's leading in your life.
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loves me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20
We can be lead either by the flesh (our natural desires) or the Spirit of God. It is when we choose to be led by the Spirit of God that God's will is done in our lives.
When we come to Jesus Christ by faith, self dies, and we are made new through Jesus living His life in us.

Too Important
If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important. (verse 3)
Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to others. For we are each responsible for our own actions. (verses 4-5)
Don’t be misled – you cannot mock God’s justice. You will always harvest what you plant…. So let’s not get tired of doing good. At just the right time we will reap blessings if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever you have the opportunity, you should do good to everyone. (verses 7-10)
May I never boast about anything except the cross of Jesus. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified. ...May God’s peace and mercy be upon all who live by this principle; they are the new people of God. (verses 14, 16).
The above are from verses in Galatians chapter 6.
