Fashion

If any thing is keeping you from God, then get rid of that thing.
I recently rid myself of all my beauty, fashion and makeover books, etc., reading them kept me from reading Holy Scripture.  Those Beauty books just weren't worth it in the long run!

See Ministry of Healing, by Ellen G White, page 207, paragraphs 1-3.

Views of Colorado

While in Colorado Ellen White wrote:

I love the hills and mountains and forests of flourishing evergreens. I love the brooks, the swift-running streams of softest water which come bubbling over the rocks, through ravines, by the side of the mountains, as if singing the joyful praise of God....

We have, here in the mountains, a view of the most rich and glorious sunset it was ever our privilege to look upon. The beautiful picture of the sunset, painted upon the shifting, changing canvas of the heavens by the great master Artist, awakens in our hearts love and deepest reverence for God....

As we stand almost entranced before this picture of nature's unsurpassed loveliness, contemplating the glories of Heaven, of which we have a faint (view), we repeat softly to ourselves, "eye has not seen nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him."

What God Doesn't Do

In my life experience, I have found that God doesn't do certain things.

For instance:
God doesn't stroke our egos; nor does He give us compliments about our beauty:
our face, figure, hair, make-up, etc.

God is most concerned with our character, and how we are progressing spiritually.
God is most concerned with our relationship with Him, and how this translates into our relationship with others.

I have found that the old devil speaks thoughts that appeal to our vanity.

And when we are totally full of ourselves, the devil slams us down by saying how ugly we are, and that God could never accept such a mess!

But we are fine just the way God made us!

Of course we should always appear put together, presentable, clean and well groomed. But our main concern is to be close to God, and the kind way we treat others as we would like to be treated.

Conscious Dignity

It is the privilege of everyone to so live that God will approve and bless (her).
….It is not the will of your heavenly Father that you should ever be under condemnation and darkness.
It is not pleasing to God that you should demerit yourself.

…While we should not think of ourselves more highly than we ought, the Word of God does not condemn a proper self-respect.
…child of God, we should have a conscious dignity of character, in which pride and self-importance have no part.”

Excerpts from Daughters of God 142, E G White

Self-worth, Self-Respect

Many struggle with feelings of self-worth and value.

The Lord has given each one of us a sense of self respect, and this must not be opposed….

God wants us to respect ourselves.

HEALTH

Dear friend, I pray above all else that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. The Lord says, "My child, listen to My Words and keep them ever in mind. Allow them to penetrate into your entire being, for they mean real life and radiant health for you.

Do not be conceited, sure of your own wisdom. Instead, trust and reverence God and turn your back on evil. When you do that, then you will be given renewed health and vitality. For I will restore your health and heal your wounds.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases.

The above quotes are taken from these Bible texts:
3 John 2/ Proverbs 4:20-22; 3:7-8/ Jeremiah 30:17/ Psalm 103:2-3.

Valentine's Day

In high school and college I was very particular as to who I dated. The guy had to show respect for himself; if he had no respect for himself how could he have respect for me?

Respect was very important, as was morality, which included no smoking, drinking, drugs or lewd behavior. (I did not date much, but married a gem of a husband!)

I did not start dating until I was almost seventeen.

And am proud to say I kept my promise made at a young age and was a chaste virgin for my future husband.
We have been married over 40 (forty) consecutive years!
